Novak Djokovic took part in a stylish street photoshoot following his second round win at the 2024 Shanghai Masters. During the photoshoot, the Serb was captured posing hilariously in front of a ‘hot pot’ sign.
Djokovic, aiming to clinch his first title of the season, entered the ATP Masters 1000 hardcourt tournament in Shanghai after helping Serbia defeat Greece at the Davis Cup to secure their spot in the tournament’s qualifying round, which will be played in 2025. He then participated in the Postbank Visa Tennis Gala exhibition match in Sofia, Bulgaria, where he faced Grigor Dimitrov but lost 6-4, 2-6, [10-6].
Recently, Novak Djokovic kicked off his campaign at the Shanghai Masters. He is seeded fourth and began his campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. The 24-time Grand Slam champion defeated Alex Michelsen 7-6(3), 7-6(9) in one hour and 55 minutes to advance to the third round.
Following his victory over Michelsen, the former World No.1 took to social media to share a series of photos from the time he spent exploring the streets of China to unwind post-match. He engaged in a photo shoot in various locations, including in front of eateries, amidst a sea of pedestrians, and much more.
The Serb also humorously mentioned that he had to take a photo of himself in front of a sign that “apparently” meant “hot pot.”
“Apparently this sign means “hot pot” so I had to pose in front of it 😆 🍲 ,” the37-year old captioned his Instagram post.

Novak Djokovic returned to the 2024 Shanghai Masters after a five-year hiatus. The Serb is aiming to win his fifth title in the tournament after winning it in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2018. His last appearance in the ATP Masters 1000 hardcourt event in Shanghai was in 2019, where he reached the quarterfinals before falling to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Djokovic will face the winner of the second-round match between 28th seed Flavio Cobolli and wild card Stan Wawrinka in the third round of the 2024 Shanghai Masters.
Stan Wawrinka commenced his campaign by defeating Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 7-6(2), 7-6(6) in the first round to secure his spot in the second round. Meanwhile, Flavio Cobolli will play his first match at the Shanghai Masters in the second round against Wawrinka, as all seeded players received a first-round bye.
Novak Djokovic has faced Wawrinka a staggering 27 times on the ATP tour and emerged victorious in 21 encounters. Their most recent clash was in the third round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, where the Serb triumphed in straight sets [6-3, 6-1, 7-6(5)].
On the other hand, the 24-time Grand Slam champion has never faced Flavio Cobolli on the ATP tour, making a potential showdown in the third round in Shanghai their first-ever meeting on the tour.
