Martin Odegaard injury update emerges as Arsenal captain spotted at the Emirates during win vs Southampton

Worryingly for Gunners fans, the midfielder left the game in the second half of his country’s 2-1 win over Austria in the Nations League during the last international break. He hasn’t played since.

Odegaard’s ligaments were damaged “significantly,” and scans showed that he would be out for a long time.

However, the club has not said when he will be back, but Odegaard has given fans some good news.

Latest on my injury'… Martin Odegaard provides Arsenal fans with rehab update ahead of Southampton

In this weekend’s Arsenal matchday magazine, Odegaard talked about his injury and recovery: “I just wanted to start with the latest on my injury and rehab.” I’ve made a lot of progress in the last week or so.

“Every day I feel better and think things are going well.” You want to do more and work harder when you think things are going in the right direction.

“Today is our last game before another international break. That gives me more time to work on my recovery as well.”

“Hopefully it won’t be too long. I think we’ll know more once I get out on the practice fields and see how my ankle reacts to that.”

“Right now it’s going well and looks better than we thought it would, but we have to take each day as it comes.”

In the seven games he has missed, Arsenal has done well without their captain, with five wins and two draws.

After beating Southampton 3-1 on Sunday, they were only one point behind Liverpool in the Premier League, which was the winner.

After the break, the away team surprised everyone by going ahead, but the Gunners scored three goals in a row to tie the game.

Manager Mikel Arteta was very pleased with how his team played when he talked about it after the game.

He said, “I thought the first half was great.” Our counter-press worked well in the areas where we had the upper hand, like when we were playing open play or set pieces and made chances for ourselves. We really shouldn’t have scored that goal.

“When we got the ball back for the second half, we were a little sloppy, especially in the first five to ten minutes. After that, the game became a little more open.”

“Then they scored the goal when they had the chance, and we lost everything we did in the first half.” It was a brand-new game in a very tough situation, and the team handled it very well and with a lot of calmness. They had a lot of faith in themselves and knew exactly what they needed to do. Both the crowd and the subs played great, and we were able to win again.
