Rafael Nadal was recently pictured vacationing on his luxury yacht along with his wife Maria Francisca Perello and son Rafa Jr. They were joined by the Spaniard’s sister Maribel and parents Ana Maria and Sebastian.
Nadal recently competed at the Paris Olympics where had an unsuccessful campaign, failing to win a medal. He lost to Novak Djokovic in the second round of the men’s singles after starting strong against Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics in the first round.
In the men’s doubles, Nadal partnered with Carlos Alcaraz but the duo lost in the quarterfinals to eventual silver medalists Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion was recently seen enjoying family time in his hometown, Mallorca. He was pictured carrying luggage from his car to his luxury boat while his sister Maribel and mother Ana Maria entertained Rafa Jr.
The Spaniard was dressed casually in a white Rafa Nadal Academy t-shirt paired with blue shorts while he carried his son’s stroller to the yacht.
Rafael Nadal: “Happy to have great team and family and friends around me”
Rafael Nadal talked to the press at the 2024 Madrid Open about his injuries and the support from his family and friends. He stated that he wished to play longer so that his son Rafa Jr. would have some memory of him as a tennis player but lamented that it might not happen.
“Well, I would love to play a little bit longer and give him a memory of myself playing tennis. That’s what will be the ideal thing for me and for my wife and family. But probably I will not be able to make that happen,” he said.
The Spaniard stated that he was happy to have a great family, a supportive team, and many old friends around him.
“But I mean [ I am] happy to have a great team and family and friends around me during almost, well, during all my life that helped me in every single way of being happy. I still have a great family, great team, and the friends from ever since I was a child, small kid,” he added.
Rafael Nadal will next compete at the Laver Cup in Berlin from September 20-22. He announced in an X (formerly Twitter) post that he would not participate in the upcoming 2024 US Open due to a lack of preparedness.
Nadal added that he was sad to miss the final Grand Slam of the season and would miss the fans and the electric atmosphere at Flushing Meadows.
