Carlos Alcaraz recorded his 200th win on the ATP Tour after his second-round triumph at the 2024 China Open. The young Spaniard achieved the feat faster than many tennis greats, including the ‘Big 3’ – Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal.

Alcaraz made light work of his second-round opponent, Tallon Griekspoor, at the 2024 China Open on September 29. The 21-year-old was in sync throughout the match, winning 100% of points on his first serve and hitting 19 winners. Alcaraz gave Griekspoor barely any breathing room as he broke the Dutchman four times to wrap up a 6-1, 6-2 victory in just 57 minutes.

This was Carlos Alcaraz’s 200th tour-level win, touching the milestone in just 252 matches on the ATP Tour. The Spaniard is the second-quickest male player who has been ranked World No. 1 to notch 200 wins. John McEnroe ranks No. 1 in this regard, taking just 245 ATP Tour matches to claim his 200th victory.

Consequently, Alcaraz has also left behind the Big 3 in this particular record. Rafael Nadal is the highest-ranked Big 3 player on the list, holding the #3 spot with 255 matches. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer took 274 and 302 matches to reach the 200 tour-level win mark.

Alcaraz is currently ranked World No. 3 on the ATP ranking. However, he has reached the summit of men’s tennis and been ranked World No. 1 for 36 weeks so far in his young career.

Carlos Alcaraz was delighted to achieve his 200th win on the tour and already has his sights set on even greater things. After his victory over Griekspoor in Beijing, the four-time Grand Slam champion said he is looking forward to his 300th win and aims to keep progressing in his career.

“I’m really happy about it – 200 wins is a great number. But I am already looking for the third hundred. I just want to keep going, to keep rolling. I am looking forward to playing matches and to keep doing the things that I am doing,” Alcaraz said.

The Spaniard, seeded second, is yet to drop a set at the 2024 China Open, having defeated Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Tallon Griekspoor in straight sets. He will face seventh seed Karen Khachanov in the third round on September 30.

Like Alcaraz, Khachanov has also not dropped any set either, beating Roberto Carballes Baena and Francisco Cerundolo in his two contests at the ATP 500 tournament. In head-to-head, Alcaraz has a 3-0 lead over Khachanov.
