Roger Federer recently showcased his latest sunglasses collection for the luxury eyewear brand Oliver Peoples in a stylish photoshoot. The Swiss legend added the brand to his sizeable endorsement portfolio in April 2023, which includes collaborations with On, Uniqlo, Rolex and Wilson.
Earlier this year in March, Federer unveiled the first six pieces of his collection with Oliver Peoples at a star-studded event in Los Angeles, where he was joined by his wife Mirka, Maria Sharapova, comedian Trevor Noah and Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn. The former World No. 1 also donned a piece from his collection on the Oscars red carpet, pairing the chic black shades with a white tuxedo.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion has unveiled six new additions to his eyewear collection in a dashing photoshoot. He showed off the variety of the designs, ranging from sporty to casual and formal.
In one shot, Roger Federer modeled a pair of black everyday frames while posing against the backdrop of a pool. He also dusted off his tennis racket to showcase white sporty frames and donned a suit to flaunt a sophisticated pair of aviators perfect for formal events.
In an email interview with CNA Lifestyle in March, the 43-year-old discussed the intention behind his collection with Oliver Peoples, sharing that it was “special” to design frames that could be worn universally.
“We designed the frames with reference to our own personal use. For me, I found I had sunglasses for so many different occasions – sports, everyday and events. It was special to create styles that could be universally worn for any moment,” he said.
Roger Federer on ‘enjoying’ sunglasses: “My sport has required me to chase the sun 80% of my life”
During the same interview, Roger Federer also opened up about his love for sunglasses, disclosing that they were an essential part of his wardrobe since his tennis career required him to spend “80% of his life” in the sun.
“I am a big fan of sunglasses,” he said. Sunglasses are something I’ve enjoyed as my sport has required me to chase the sun 80% of my life. Even after my professional career, I continue to travel and be outdoors, so I often have a pair with me.”
The 20-time Grand Slam champion revealed that it was a “full-circle moment” for him to partner with Oliver Peoples, having admired the brand since purchasing his first pair from them over two decades ago.
“I have been a fan of Oliver Peoples since I bought my first pair over 20 years ago. They felt like such a clear partner to create the type of sunglasses we felt were missing in the market, a high-performance style that is at the same time elegant and luxurious. I feel this is a very special full-circle moment,” he added.
Federer recently sported a pair of sleek black sunglasses from his collection at the 2024 Laver Cup, where he cheered for the Carlos Alcaraz-led Team Europe as they defeated Team World to end their two-year losing streak at the event.
