Belgium ended their journey at Euro 2024 after a 0-1 defeat to France in the round of 16 early on July 2. Captain Kevin De Bruyne clearly showed his dissatisfaction with this result. He lost his temper when answering questions at the post-match press conference.
A reporter asked De Bruyne: “Is it difficult for you that the Belgian golden generation did not reach the final?”.
De Bruyne responded with a counter-question for the reporter: “What golden generation?”.
The reporter answered that it was the golden generation of the Belgian team and De Bruyne. The midfielder born in 1991 angrily replied: “My golden generation? So you think France, Spain, England and Germany are not the golden generation? Okay, thanks!”.
Notably, in a fit of anger, De Bruyne exclaimed “idiot” before leaving the interview position. This moment was caught by the camera lens.
