One such fan is Pavvy G, endorsed by the Serb during Wimbledon 2024, who recently found himself in hot water after mocking Jannik Sinner for what he perceived as negligence following the death of the Italian’s aunt.

Sinner’s aunt, Meggi Rauchegge, passed away at the age of 56 on Sunday, September 21, after battling an undisclosed illness. The World No. 1, who shared a close bond with her, dedicated his 2024 US Open victory to her in a heartfelt tribute.

“I would like to dedicate this title to my aunt because she is really not feeling well health-wise. I don’t know how much longer I still have her in my life,” he said during his victory speech.

Despite that, some tennis fans still managed to stir up controversy, questioning his response and adding heat to an already painful situation. Leading the charge was Pavvy, whose comments quickly became the talk of the town.

He took to his X (formerly Twitter) account, accusing Jannik Sinner of double standards. He noted that while the Italian’s aunt was ill, he kept himself occupied with other pursuits, such as attending Gucci’s Milan Fashion Week show, implying that this behavior was negligent given the circumstances.

“With his Aunty so poorly and now unfortunately passed away, he didn’t missed a single event for Gucci or the Olympics promotion in the last week and is now in Beijing. A sad loss for him and his family but sometimes missing sponsors obligations is important when family involved?” Pavvy wrote in a now-deleted post.

Other tennis fans on X have not taken kindly to Pavvy G’s comments. Many expressed outrage, viewing his statements as not only inappropriate but also tone-deaf in light of the circumstances surrounding Sinner’s loss.

“I don’t think these people realize how triggering saying something like this can be to someone that experienced grief and mourning. It’s not about tennis anymore, something like this could’ve triggered anyone on this app. So horrible,” one user wrote.

“Disgusting and deeply unsettling. Jannik’s team should consider taking legal action at that point,” another wrote.

“That Pavvy g guy is absolutely vile and pathetic. He is obviously acting like a turnip for the engagement, but he is making a real fool of himself. Even the Djokovic fanboys are getting sick of him,” one account posted.

Another chimed in:

Some users felt that Novak Djokovic shouldn’t have given Pavvy G a shout-out, with one of them commenting:

Jannik Sinner came under fire in August 2024 after it was revealed that he avoided a ban despite testing positive for the banned substance Clostebol twice during Indian Wells in March.

The ITIA accepted his explanation that the substance entered his system through his ex-physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi, who had used an over-the-counter spray containing the steroid—purchased by his former fitness coach, Umberto Ferrara—to treat a wound.

As soon as the news broke, Novak Djokovic’s fan Pavvy G took it upon himself to dig deeper into the situation. He flooded X with rants, openly questioning the explanation provided by Sinner and his team, and asserting that there had to be more to the story than what was being revealed.

“Sinner said they knew straight away that it was Clostebol. How did that they know that Clostebol that was the banned substance? People are free to make their own minds up but for me this feels like it was a pre-planned excuse. Too many things don’t add up,” one of his tweets reads.

Another reads:

“Jannik Sinner and his legal team cannot prove that the story about the physio being the one with the banned substance cross-contaminating him. What is proven beyond any doubt is that Jannik Sinner failed two doping tests which confirmed traces of a banned substance in his blood.”

These are just two of many tweets from Pavvy G, who continues to voice his skepticism on X. Despite the backlash, he has shown no signs of backing down, relentlessly pursuing what he believes to be the truth about the reigning Australian Open and US Open champion.
