Djokovic revealed that Dimitrov had traveled to Serbia to play an exhibition event four years ago and the 37-year-old was now returning the favor.
“I am very motivated for the match. Grigor and I have been friends for many years. 4 years ago he came to Belgrade for the “Adria Tour” and then we agreed to return the gesture at the right time. I am glad that I had the opportunity to come and help his foundation,” Djokovic said.
The Serb also stated that he has great respect for the Bulgarian and the pair get along well.
“Grigor and I have played against each other many times. I have great respect for him. I get along with him better than most other players. I feel him like a brother and that’s why I’m happy that we will finally have the opportunity to face each other in front of a Bulgarian audience,” he added.
