Jannik Sinner won the 2024 Shanghai Masters, defeating Novak Djokovic 7-6(4), 6-3 in the final on Sunday, October 13. The victory marked the Italian’s seventh title of the season. He is now set to finish the year as the World No. 1.
Sinner’s victory in Shanghai earned him a hefty $1,100,000 from the tournament’s $8,955,555 prize pool, while Djokovic took home $585,000. Taylor Fritz and Tomas Machac each received $325,000 after being eliminated in the semifinals.
Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Jakub Mensik and David Goffin, each got $185,000 for a quarterfinal finish.
Meanwhile, players eliminated in the fourth round — including second seed Alexander Zverev, ninth seed Grigor Dimitrov, 10th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, 11th seed Tommy Paul, 12th seed Holger Rune, 14th seed Ben Shelton, Gael Monfils and Roman Safiullin — each took home $101,000.
13th seed Frances Tiafoe, 16th seed Ugo Humbert, 19th seed Alejandro Tabilo, 20th seed Alexei Popyrin, 28th seed Flavio Cobolli, 29th seed Matteo Arnaldi, 31st seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry, 33rd seed Jiri Lehecka, Roberto Carballes Baena, Alexandre Muller, Wu Yibing, Aleksandar Vukic, Alexander Shevchenko, Marcos Giron, Yosuke Watanuki, and Tallon Griekspoor, each earned $59,100 for a third-round finish.
Those knocked out in the second round of the Shanghai Masters, including sixth seed Andrey Rublev, eighth seed Casper Ruud, 18th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, 21st seed Arthur Fils, 22nd seed Sebastian Baez, 25th seed Nicolas Jarry 27th seed Francisco Cerundolo, and Matteo Berrettini received $34,500 each.
Adrian Mannarino, Lorenzo Sonego, Dan Evans, Marin Cilic, Reilly Opelka, Pedro Martinez, Zhang Zhizhen, Yoshihito and others, who were sent home packing in the opening round, each received $23,250.
Nikola Mektic and Wesley Koolhof win Shanghai Masters 2024 doubles title
Nikola Mektic and Wesley Koolhof won the 2024 Shanghai Masters men’s doubles title by securing a solid 6-4, 6-4 victory against the Argentine pair of Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni on Sunday, October 13. The winning team received $447,300 while the runners-up took home $236,800.
Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Santiago Gonzalez, along with Jean-Julien Rojer and Adam Pavlasek, were eliminated in the semifinals. Each pair got $127,170.
Meanwhile, fourth seeds Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori, Jackson Withrow and Nathaniel Lammons, Robert Galloway and Ariel Behar, and Jamie Murray and John Peers each bagged $63,600, courtesy of a quarterfinal finish.
Those knocked out in the second round received $34,100, while those who exited in the first round took home $18,640.
