With his game-saving play for Belgium against Italy in the Uefa Nations League on Thursday, Leandro Trossard sent a very strong message.

In the first minute, Juventus wide player Andrea Cambiaso scored to put the Red Devils down 1-0. In the 24th minute, Atalanta striker Mateo Retegui made it 2-0.

A red card for Lorenzo Pellegrini in the 38th minute, on the other hand, gave Belgium a chance to win, and they did.

Just before halftime, Maxim De Cuyper scored a goal to tie the game for the visitors. Trossard set up the full-back for Club Brugge with a nicely executed touch.

After the break, Belgium didn’t give up. In the 61st minute, Trossard scored his own goal by poking home a Wout Faes shot from close range.

 

Since France is also in the same group, this could be a huge win for Belgium in the race to make it to the Nations League Finals.

Trossard’s great game against Italy comes at just the right time. He got back on track after getting red-carded against Manchester City by scoring against Leicester City and setting up a goal against Paris Saint-Germain.

 

In Rome, the 29-year-old was great all night. He set up two chances, completed three of his five long passes, and helped out on defense with two stops and four recoveries.

 

Leandro Trossard had 57 touches in the game against Italy. 4 times won possession I won 3 duels. Two touches in the penalty box; two chances made1.5 shots, 1 goal, and 2 stops.

Mikel Arteta has said nice things about Trossard many times in the past, and the Belgian seems to have quickly gotten back on track at the Emirates Stadium after his loss to Manchester City.

 

There’s no doubt that Arteta kept an eye on his progress during the international break. So far, it hasn’t seemed to hurt his hopes of getting more starts for Arsenal.
