The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly making some additions to their practice squad.
According to ESPN, the team is signing wide receiver Seth Williams and defensive end Luiji Vilain. The Cowboys are also adding defensive end Carl Lawson to the 53-man roster, a move that was necessary after the team elevated the veteran pass rusher from the practice squad three times.
Williams and Vilain weren’t the only players working out for the Cowboys on Tuesday. Former Baylor star receiver Denzel Mims and ex-TCU quarterback Max Duggan were some standout names among the group.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM) earlier in the day that the workouts were a way to continue looking for depth.
“We’re in a good spot, we’re here in Dallas. We work out a lot of players. This is kind of central point in the country,” Jones said. “We’re all the time wanting to keep up with where players are relative to their health, their conditioning and just, if you will, look at them. We do a lot of that without any specific position in mind.”
Mims played at Baylor from 2016-19 before being selected by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. Duggan notably led TCU to the College Football Playoff and finished second in voting for the Heisman Trophy in 2022.
Other players in the workout group were WR Dante Pettis, WR Chad Cota and DE Shaka Toney. The Cowboys previously signed Toney during training camp then waived the defensive end as he worked through a groin injury.
