Through the first five weeks of the 2024 NFL season, the Baltimore Ravens hold a 3-2 record. After starting 0-2 to begin the year, rebounding to win three straight has been huge.
In Week 5, they were able to survive a massive scare against the AFC North rival Cincinnati Bengals. Despite a couple of massive mistakes, the Ravens emerged with a 41-38 win in overtime.
With that being said, Baltimore could use more offensive firepower. That has led to them being mentioned in quite a bit of trade speculation ahead of the November 5th trade deadline.
One potential trade target has been suggested at the wide receiver position that would make a ton of sense.
Baltimore Ravens Urged To Pursue Intriguing Trade with Giants
Bleacher Report has suggested a trade the Ravens should pursue with the New York Giants. They believe that Darius Slayton could make sense as a target for Baltimore.
“The Ravens’ passing game is heavily reliant on Zay Flowers, Justice Hill and Isaiah Likely at this point. Baltimore has one of the most unique situations thanks to Lamar Jackson, so they don’t have to have the same kind of wide receiver depth that other teams have. That being said, it would be good for the Ravens to add one more dynamic weapon in the passing game. Darius Slayton is an underrated burner whose deep speed would give the Ravens a dangerous option in their vertical play-action game.”
Slayton has been talked about as a potential trade chip over the last couple of years. If the Baltimore Ravens view the wide receiver position as a need, but they don’t want to spend big to get an elite option, Slayton would be a cost-effective target.
During the 2024 NFL season so far with the Giants, Slayton has caught 18 passes for 244 yards and a touchdown. He has been a very production wideout for New York.
Giving Lamar Jackson as many weapons as possible is always a wise decision. Slayton could be the piece that takes the Ravens’ offense to the next level.
All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what Baltimore chooses to do ahead of the deadline. Slayton may not end up being a target, but he certainly would be a nice fit for the Baltimore Ravens.
