Steph Curry watched his brother-in-law Damion Lee play against the LA Lakers on Sunday. Lee, Curry’s former teammate with the Golden State Warriors, sat out the entire 2023-24 season with the Phoenix Suns due to a right knee injury. After over a year on the injury list, the shooting guard saw action in the Suns’ preseason debut.
Curry went on Instagram to react to Lee’s long-awaited return from injury. The two-time MVP shared a story on IG and wrote a message:
“Welcome back!!!”
Damion Lee played four seasons alongside Steph Curry in the Bay Area. He was part of the team that won the 2022 championship but wasn’t offered a contract following the title-winning campaign.
Lee signed with the Phoenix Suns in the summer of that year. Curry went on IG to say that the Suns got “a good one” following Lee’s decision to join Devin Booker and Co.
Lee played 74 games in his first season with the Phoenix Suns. A knee injury followed by surgery kept him on the sidelines during the 2023-24 campaign.
On Sunday, Lee played 10 minutes against the LA Lakers, finishing with 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting, including 2-of-3 from deep. He also contributed one rebound and one assist.
Steph Curry and Damion Lee will face each other four times this season
If healthy, Steph Curry and Damion Lee will face each other four times this season. The first meeting between the two will be on Nov. 30 when the Golden State Warriors visit the Phoenix Suns. The rematch will be in the Bay Area on Dec. 28.
The third Curry-Lee meeting will be on Jan. 31, which will also be at the Chase Center in Golden State. The brothers-in-law will have their final encounter on Apr. 8 when the Dubs travel to the desert to take on the Suns.
Curry is 1-3 in head-to-head meetings with Lee in his career. The NBA’s 3-point career leader will have a chance to improve that record this season.
