KANSAS CITY, MO. (WIBW) – The Kansas City Chiefs head to the bye week with a perfect 5-0 record to start the year.
The Chiefs handled the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football, 26-13.
After a turnover by Derek Carr in the early going, the Chiefs would capitalize on that mistake, Kareem Hunt would score from five yards away to make it a 7-0 game.
A field goal in the second quarter followed by a 43-yard touchdown by the Saints, the Chiefs would tack on two more field goals and head into halftime with a 16-7 lead.
Mahomes had 216 passing yards in the first half, Hunt had 52 rush yards and Travis Kelce had 67 yards on eight catches. The Chiefs had 277 total yards of offense in the half too along with an interception.
The Saints would get themselves on the board once again as Foster Moreau caught a 6-yard touchdown from Derek Carr to make it 16-13 after a failed PAT attempt.
Not much longer after that, Xavier Worthy took a handoff from Travis Kelce and rumbled in from three yards out eventually giving his Mom the ball to take the 23-13 lead.
Butker would tack on another field goal pushing the score to 26-13.
The Chiefs will head into their bye week and then they take on the 49ers in a Super Bowl 58 rematch on the road with kick-off at 3:25 on WIBW.
