Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has become a central figure in trade discussions, with reports indicating a deal could happen imminently.
After missing the last two games due to an alleged hamstring injury, speculation about his future with the team has intensified, and a potential move could be finalized soon.
The six-time Pro Bowl receiver has reportedly expressed frustration with the Raiders’ lack of competitiveness and the inconsistent quarterback play, fueling his desire for a fresh start elsewhere.
Despite being in the second year of a five-year, $140 million contract, Adams is actively seeking a new team, with the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints reportedly among those showing interest.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided a significant update on the situation during Monday’s broadcast of Good Morning Football, hinting that a trade could be imminent.
“It could be today, could be tomorrow,” Rapoport said. “That’s how quickly this thing could happen.”
Rapoport specifically highlighted the Jets and Saints as leading contenders for Adams, both of whom are in desperate need of help at the wide receiver position.
“Help could be on the way for the New York Jets,” Rapoport remarked, alluding to Gang Green’s struggling offense, which has scored just 26 points over the last two games.
Adams’ history with Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers – his former teammate in Green Bay – has only fueled rumors of a potential reunion.
However, it appears the Saints are even more determined to land the star receiver.
“The Saints have actually been the most aggressive team in talking to the Raiders about Davante Adams,” Rapoport added. “But the Jets are definitely in the mix.”
Of course, the Saints have an advantage of their own thanks to Adams’ close friend Derek Carr being the quarterback.
This season, Adams has logged 18 receptions for 209 yards and a touchdown, but his dissatisfaction with the Raiders’ inability to contend has reached a breaking point.
As trade talks heat up, the NFL world watches closely to see whether the Saints’ aggressive pursuit will pay off, or if the Jets can secure Adams for a reunion with Rodgers.
Either way, as Rapoport noted, we might not have to wait too long to find out.
What are your thoughts on the situations? … At the end of the day, where do you think Adams will end up???
