Micah Parsons will not play for the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 5 fixture against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The all-pro pass rusher is out with a high ankle sprain.
According to the Cowboys’ injury report from Friday, Parsons is still feeling the effects of two Giants players falling on his ankle last week. He was carted away for further evaluation, where the doctors determined that his legs felt the full force of 300+ pounds.
Usually, the rehab duration depends on the severity of the injury, but at this point in time, the Cowboys have adopted a day-to-day approach.

This is a major setback for the Cowboys. They were already without DeMarcus Lawrence, and now Parsons missing out significantly weakens the pass rush.
Parsons on Monday said that if the decision to play in the Steelers game was in his hands, then he would have certainly started. The 3x Pro Bowler claimed it’s frustrating for him to sit out while teammates around him grind themselves to the ground.
Dak Prescott believes Micah Parsons missing out opens doors for other players to step up
The Cowboys sit 2-2 after defeating their division rivals, the New York Giants in week 4. On Sunday, they travel to the Steel City to face the Steelers for the first time since 2020 in the regular season. Unlike the Cowboys, Mike Tomlin’s side is 3-1 and are surprise favorites, as home advantage will play a major part.
Yet the biggest issue for the Cowboys is the injuries that have been piling up. Micah Parsons being the latest key member of the defense, hitting the deck creates a massive hole in the leadership.
Dak Prescott on the challenge without Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence and Brandin Cooks: “It’s an opportunity to show the depth of this team, and what we’re made of. Young guys, you were going to have to count on them late in the year — we’ve got to count on them now.” pic.twitter.com/AM15HdEtNs

Quarterback Dak Prescott interprets the situation differently. From his point of view, this is a great opportunity for lesser-known players to make their mark on the team.
