Ahead of his 14th NBA season, Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler provided a look inside his South California house. He took time off his schedule to talk about his household with Architectural Digest’s Nick Mafi. Located just outside San Diego, the property was purchased by Butler in 2020 and designed by Illinois-based designer Tiffany Brooks.
The Heat star offered a look inside the house, from the lavish dining room area to the comfy living rooms. The house’s infrastructure was meticulously designed to meet Butler’s preferences and Brooks’ vision.
In the interview with Architectural Digest, Butler talked about his home.
“I grew up with a whole bunch of nothing, so I’ve dreamed of having a home for myself, for my family, and I put everything into this house,” Butler said. “This is for my kids. I do this to inspire—to show that if you want something you can go get it.”
Jimmy Butler has evolved into one of the league’s premier two-way players after being selected as the 30th pick by the Chicago Bulls in the 2011 NBA draft. Once a key teammate alongside Derrick Rose in Chicago, Butler has since emerged as the franchise star of the Miami Heat following his arrival in 2019.
Last season, Butler averaged 20.8 points (49.9% shooting, 41.4% from beyond the arc), 5.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.
AD100 designer talked about the foundation behind Jimmy Butler’s household
In the same Architectural Digest piece, AD100 designer Tiffany Brooks talked about what it was like to work with Jimmy Butler and what went on behind the construction of his house.
“Jimmy has so many facets; he’s like a diamond,” Brooks said. “Every time I sit with him, I learn something new about his life and about what he loves. With his traditional palette, he wanted a lot of natural light and an open feel to mimic the plazas of Europe.”
It was a clear vision right from the jump. However, Brooks still wanted to add Butler’s personal touch to the construction of his Southern Carolina home.
She wanted to pick apart Butler’s brain to pinpoint his exact preferences when it came to his place of living.
