Tua Tagovailoa’s Wife’s Four-Word Message to Dolphins QB Before Awful Injury

Annah Tagovailoa posted a rare message on Instagram before husband Tua Tagovailoa suffered another heartbreaking injury in Week 2.

The Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a devastating concussion during the team’s 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football.

While scrambling for a first down late in the third quarter, Tagovailoa lowered his shoulder before colliding with Bills safety Damar Hamlin. His helmet smashed into the defender’s chest and Tagovailoa fell to the ground. Viewers watched as his arms immediately went into an unnatural state known as the “fencing position,” a sign of traumatic brain injury.

Tagovailoa walked off the field under his own power, and according to Amazon sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung, his family met him in the locker room. “We’re told family is inside with him. We’ve seen his wife and two children, as well as his brother,’ Hartung announced.

Tagovailoa and his wife, Annah Tagovailoa, quietly tied knot in July 2022, and keep their relationship incredibly private. Annah, however, who has a total of eight photos on her Instagram page, sent a strong message to her husband before the AFC East showdown on September 12.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's wife, Anna Tagovailoa, posted a message to her husband before kickoff against the Buffalo Bills on September 12, 2024.

Annah posted a highlight video of Tagovailoa from the Dolphins’ Week 1 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars and wrote, “You got this #1 🧡.”

Social media filled with prayers for Tagovailoa and his family after the Alabama alum was ruled out with a concussion. Because he suffered three concussions during the 2022 NFL season, there’s genuine concern the quarterback may be looking at early retirement at age 26.

Speaking to reporters on September 13, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel revealed what he told Tagovailoa as he exited the field on Thursday night. “I told him he’s the starting quarterback of his family. And to go in the locker room, take a deep breath. And I’ll see you soon.”

McDaniel refused to put a timeline on Tagovailoa’s possible return. “If I’m a betting man,” he said, “I don’t see how he would play the next game,” which is against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field in Week 3.

“All I’m telling Tua is: Everyone is counting on you to be a dad this weekend. And then, we’ll move from there.”
