Tyreek Hill responds to rumors of a Kansas City reunion with Patrick Mahomes as the Dolphins wide receiver hits slump

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is not expecting to go anywhere any time soon, despite his team’s recent struggles and his issue with racking up yardage in recent contests.

Recent speculation on social media has left many wondering if Hill could be looking for a trade away from the 1-3 Dolphins.

Particularly, there’s a question about trading him back to the team that drafted him: the Kansas City Chiefs.

But Hill tossed cold water on that speculation when speaking to the media on Wednesday.

‘I’m just focused on the right here and the right now,’ Hill said, via Pro Football Network’s Adam Beasley.

‘We’ve got a beautiful team here and I want to be a part of it. We’ve got a great situation here, my family loves it, I enjoy it, the weather’s great, the fans are great. We’ve got a beautiful situation.

‘My parents always taught me, control the controllable, and I only can control so much. With that being said, the NFL is a business, we all know whatever happens, happens. Moving forward, I would love to be here, I love being here.’

While, in theory, Hill and the Chiefs would be a strong fit, the logistics would make it nearly impossible to acquire the 30-year-old.

Kansas City only has $4.9million in cap space for the rest of the season and would have large cap hits inhibiting them the following season.

Hill currently has a $31.9m cap hit for this season, which goes down to $27.8m in 2025 before shooting up to $51.8m in 2026.

Any discussion about trading Hill wouldn’t happen if he was performing well and the Dolphins were rolling. But that’s not the case.

After winning their first game of the season, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa went down with a concussion in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football.

Backup quarterbacks Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley have deputized – with Thompson getting injured in Week 3.

Hill has averaged only 29 yards a game in the three contests since Tua Tagovailoa got injured

As a result of Tagovailoa’s absence, Hill’s production has cratered.

In his first game of the season against Jacksonville, he racked up seven catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. In the three games since, he has totaled 10 catches on 18 targets for a measly 87 yards and no touchdowns – good for an average of 29 yards.

That’s led to frustration from Hill, which appeared to boil over on the sidelines during Monday night’s loss to the Tennessee Titans.

It’s not clear exactly when Tagovailoa is expected back after suffering from his third known concussion in his NFL career. But ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that he could be back as soon as Week 8.

Who knows where Miami will be by that point, but Hill will more likely than not be on the Dolphins as he hopes to get back on track.

He’ll have the chance to do that against fellow strugglers, the New England Patriots, on the road this Sunday.
