After impressing during training camp, it appears Terique Owens is re-joining the 49ers ahead of Week 5.
Reports emerged Wednesday morning that the San Francisco 49ers were re-signing the undrafted wide receiver to the team’s practice squad. Owens will join a stacked WR room, but one that he impressed in during offseason workouts and training camp. He was released from the team after suffered a finger fracture during training camp, forcing him to have surgery.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo was first with the news, as NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco confirmed thereafter.
Additionally, the 49ers have re-added linebacker Jalen Graham, signing him to a one-year deal Tuesday. The former seventh-round pick was poached by the Washington Commanders after being waived by the Red & Gold on roster cutdown day. A month later, he is re-poached back to the west coast.

Terique Owens, 23, is the son of Hall of Fame WR Terrell Owens, who spent his first eight seasons with the 49ers. The elder Owens amassed over 1,000 catches and almost 16,000 receiving yards in 15 years in the league. He also had 153 touchdowns to his name. Owens made the Pro Bowl six times, and the All-Pro team on five occasions.
Nicknamed “T.O.” Owens played for the Cowboys, Eagles, Bills and Bengals before hanging it up after 2010.
His son, Terique, is now looking to start his own NFL journey. He’s had a bumpy road to this point, unable to get much playing time at Florida Atlantic University before transferring to Missouri State in 2021. Owens amassed 765 yards in three years in the Missouri Valley Conference. 2023 was a breakout season, putting up 528 yards and four scores in 10 contests.
