The Dallas Cowboys defeated the New York Giants 20-15 in their Thursday night game last week. The Cowboys will travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday night for their fifth regular season game. However, their pass rush will be shorthanded in that matchup.
Star pass rusher Micah Parsons suffered a high ankle sprain last week. Parsons is not expected to play Sunday night as the Cowboys have planned for him not to play. Finally, the plan is to reevaluate his ankle after 7-10 days, meaning he could also miss Week 6. Worst-case scenario, he isn’t ready until Week 8 since they have a BYE in Week 7.
Unfortunately, he isn’t the other pass rusher dealing with injury.
The Dallas Cowboys 4x Pro Bowler suffered a significant injury
DeMarcus Lawrence exited the third quarter with an apparent foot injury and didn’t return. Mike McCarthy on Friday told the media that Lawerence’s injury is worse than Parsons’ but will have a second opinion and would get a better answer on Monday.
“Both Micah (ankle) and DeMarcus Lawrence (foot sprain) are getting second opinions … D-Law’s is worse than Micah’s,” Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said on a conference call Friday.“I don’t have a specific timeline, but we’ll get into that a little deeper on Monday. … They are worse than we anticipated.”
Tests later determined that Lawrence suffered a Lisfranc injury but won’t require surgery since his bones aren’t displaced. He is looking at a 4-to-8-week recovery time.
He will miss some time
According to Jordan Schultz of Schultz_Report, the Dallas Cowboys have placed DeMarcus Lawrence on injured reserve. He will miss at least four games. The earliest he can return is Week 9 when they play against the Atlanta Falcons.
