Travis Kelce set to host new celebrity game show

How does Kelce have time for this?

“The global phenomenon is back, with a twist” is the tagline for the new Amazon Prime Video game show, “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” The spinoff from the hit show “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” has a new home and a host who seems to be everywhere lately.

The show will air on October 16th, with host Travis Kelce leading the way.

The news comes as the Chiefs tight end dominates the headlines. He appears in the new FX show “Grotesquerie” alongside Niecy Nash and Courtney B. Vance right now as well.

It seems Kelce has had a busy off-season.

“Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” seems to have a fun, playful environment. One contestant will come on the show and rely on a classroom of celebrities to help them answer 11 questions that someone in elementary school would know the answer to.

The winner of the show gets $100,000, and on the final question, contestants can select one celebrity to lean on a bit to help them win the top prize.

Nikki Glaser, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Sophia Stallone, Garcelle Beauvais, Chad Ochocinco, and Lala Kent are among the celebrities expected to appear on the show. Judging by the trailer, even some of these celebrities get stumped by some of the questions.

The trailer comes out at a time when many football fans have begun to wonder if Kelce has got one foot out the door of football due to his appearances in multiple endorsements, television shows, a podcast with his brother Jason Kelce, and the occasional night out with girlfriend Taylor Swift.

It’s clear that with these extracurricular activities, Kelce may be gearing up for retirement, as many have speculated, but he doesn’t seem to be distracted despite sub-par stats in his on the field play.

It also must be noted that most of the Super Bowl-winning tight ends’ work outside of football is usually done during the off-season.

“Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” hits Amazon Prime Video on October 16th. The game show will air three initial episodes on that premiere date and then follow with a new one every Wednesday for its first season.
