Fans are not happy with what Patrick Mahomes had to say about Chiefs teammate Rashee Rice after causing an injury to the second-year wide receiver on Sunday.

Mahomes and Rice were involved in a nasty collision while playing the Chargers on the day, with the quarterback inadvertently throwing himself into the wideout’s lower body in an attempt to make a tackle after throwing an interception.

Rice was quickly ruled out of the game, and it’s feared that he could be out for the season, having come into Week 4 as the player with the most receiving yards in the NFL.

Mahomes spoke about the incident after the Chiefs’ fourth straight win on Sunday night and expressed hope for the best.

“I didn’t know exactly what happened because, obviously, I was trying to make the tackle,” he told reporters. “But I know Rashee and how tough he is, so him being down like that, I knew it wasn’t good. So all we do is pray that the x-rays and MRIs and stuff like that are better than what it looked.

“But next man up until he’s back.”

Social Media Destroyed Patrick Mahomes Over His Comments

NFL fans were incensed, given a lack of an apology and the fact that Mahomes said “next man up” after being directly responsible for Rice’s injury.

“Him saying next man up is wild af,” one wrote.

“A $500,000,000 QB trying to make a hero play after throwing an INT is insane. There is no excuse for his decision and it will cost them and my fantasy team in the long run,” another added.

“Pat…

1) you have zero business trying to make a tackle on a defender

2) you didn’t even hit close to the defender you only hit Rice

Just sit back and watch next time please,” someone advised.

Chiefs fans will be sweating over the WR’s status this Monday but should be informed soon.
