The Cowboys rookies played a much better game against the New York Giants last week.
The Dallas Cowboys managed to grind out a victory against the New York Giants, winning 20-15 in MetLife Stadium. The rookies had a big part to play in that victory, especially on defense.
OT Tyler Guyton
Guyton had a tough day with the officials and he was certainly vocal about his thoughts on the referee situation after the game as he walked back to the locker room. Guyton was flagged three times against the Giants and allowed one sack. This was against a defense that was ranked second in total sacks before facing Dallas and had more total pressures than Dallas. Guyton allowed the most pressures this week, but it wasn’t a complete mess and allowed only three pressures all game. He’s still a work in progress.
DE Marshawn Kneeland
Kneeland played an expanded role over what he had the past two weeks. He played 35 snaps and was pretty good. He managed to register a quarterback hit, one tackle for loss and three total tackles. The run defense against the Giants was much improved and in parts looked extremely impressive. Kneeland was one of the better run defenders and managed to stay clear of any flags. With DeMarcus Lawrence likely heading to injured reserve it looks like Kneeland will take on a bigger role going forward.
iOL Cooper Beebe
There was two sides to Cooper Beebe last week. On the one side, Beebe was amazing as a pass blocker and allowed zero pressures all game. He squared off against Dexter Lawrence on 22 passing sets and allowed zero sacks, not bad against the player who led the Giants in sacks and pressures. The issue with Beebe last week was run blocking. He struggled to get any push and create running lanes inside. He really struggled to get any wins here.
LB Marist Liufau
Missed tackles are a problem with this defense but against the Giants Liufau was perfect and made four tackles with zero missed tackles. He made a great stop against Devin Singletary for a three-yard loss and the play was a perfect highlight to prove his versatility and speed. A good day from Liufau on a day when the defense needed it.

WR Ryan Flournoy

TE Brevyn Spann-Ford
Ford played only five snaps and all exclusively as a run blocker. As a run blocker there’s not much to say negatively. He did his job, he took on blocks well and was getting good push.
