The wife of LeBron James, Savannah James, was emotional after she saw her husband suited up with their firstborn, Bronny, for the first time. The 2024-25 NBA season is set to be historic for the James family as they will be the first father-son duo who will actively play together in the league.
As James enters his 22nd NBA season, his son will play his first official season this year. The LA Lakers drafted Bronny with the 55th pick in June. They took the chance to have both father and son play together on the same team.
The franchise had their Media Day on Monday, and both LeBron and Bronny were in full gear. Savannah shared a photo on her Instagram account that showed the father-son duo sitting together in Lakers threads.
“WOW!!! No words can express this gratitude,” Savannah posted on Instagram.
The veteran star guided Bronny on his first Media Day. The two sat together for interviews and talked about how excited they were to play alongside each other.
Savannah James played NBA 2K25 as her son Bronny, according to her husband
On Media Day, LeBron got to share a story about how Savannah James recently played a video game. The four-time champion also shared a story of a five-year-old Bronny who played little league basketball in Akron, Ohio.
According to the Lakers star, the younger James grabbed a rebound and went coast-to-coast with the basketball.
James shared that Bronny made the basket after going coast-to-coast. The star turned to his wife and told her that he saw something special in their son. At first, Savannah couldn’t believe it since her son was five at that time.
However, they looked back at that moment when Bronny was drafted in June. According to James, he got a chance to film his wife playing video games. Savannah played the new NBA 2K game and went into practice mode to play as her son.
“I have a video on my phone of Savannah playing NBA 2K,” James said. “He (Bronny) hasn’t seen it. She does not play video games, but she went in practice mode and played with her son. On practice mode, I forgot to post it–I was going to post it for the world, but I have not yet.
“She was playing with Bronny and I said, ‘Okay, this is what it takes for you to get on a video game.’ It was just super cool.”
James shared that he intends to share the video with the world someday. But for now, the family is soaking in everything that’s happened with them since Bronny was drafted.
