Travis Kelce’s teammates make perfect gesture to show support for struggling Chiefs star amid slow start

Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice and fellow Kansas City wideouts are backing Travis Kelce amid a rough start to the NFL season.

Ahead of the reigning Super Bowl champions’ Sunday night showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers, Rice and the receivers sported custom Travis Kelce t-shirts to support the tight end.

While the Chiefs are a perfect 3-0 to start the season, Kelce has been receiving plenty of backlash for his underwhelming performances.

Across three games, Kelce has made eight receptions for 69 yards and zero touchdowns – which are low counts for his standards.

Last season, Kelce had 17 catches for 155 yards and two touchdowns three games into the campaign.

The vintage style shirts featured a collage of Kelce’s pictures with ‘Travis’ printed in red on top of the front and the tight end’s surname in gold at the bottom. The back has the world ‘Dreamathon’ printed in gold on top and three photos of Kelce celebrating under it.

According to CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson, ‘Rashee Rice got them for all the WRs to honor their leader and a guy who has mentored all of them especially Rice.’

While Kelce has struggled in the opening games, Rice and Xavier Worthy have stepped up to the plate and led the team in receptions.

Rice’s start has been productive with 24 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Worthy made six receptions 81 yards, and a touchdown.

The Chiefs opened their season with a 27-20 win over the Ravens, a 26-25 win over the Bengals, and a 22-17 victory over the Falcons.

On the other hand, Los Angeles started their season with consecutive wins over the Raiders and Panthers before losing to the Steelers in Week 3.
