UPDATE: Tyler Glasnow has sprained elbow, ‘highly unlikely’ to pitch again in 2024

Dodgers right-hander has been sidelined for five weeks with elbow tendinitis.

You knew it wasn’t going to be good news after Tyler Glasnow had his simulated game nixed on Friday with elbow discomfort, and Saturday confirmed just that. The Dodgers right-hander has a sprained elbow, manager Dave Roberts told reporters in Atlanta, and Glasnow’s season is likely over.

The Dodgers traded for Glasnow in December, and as part of the deal reworked the one season left on his previous contract into a new five-year deal worth over $136.5 million through the 2028 season. The 30-year-old right-hander put up a 3.49 ERA in 22 starts, with 168 strikeouts in 134 innings in his first year with his hometown team. The starts, innings pitched, and strikeouts were a major league career high for Glasnow, who had Tommy John surgery during the 2021 season.
