The LA Times sat down with LA Lakers owner Jeanie Buss for an interview on Friday where she gave LeBron James the biggest compliment. Over the years, James has impressed fans and critics with his dominance on the court. Even owners are in awe of what ‘King James’ has done.

The Lakers star hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. James participated in Team USA this summer to help them win the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The star wasn’t just with the team as a participant, however. He played a significant role and was even named the MVP of the tournament.

Based on his play for the national team alone, Buss has dubbed him the greatest of all time. The team owner held a question and answer panel at the San Diego Comic-Con regarding the ‘Women of Wrestling’, which she also co-owns with David McLane. The conversation veered to basketball and Buss gave her opinion on LeBron.

“I’m excited to see what our new coach, JJ Redick, has in store. It’s definitely gonna be an interesting season for sure. I mean, LeBron, the way he played at the Olympics? He might be the greatest of all time,” Buss said.

Many are on the same page with Buss in believing that James might be the GOAT player. However, some still believe Michael Jordan is the right player to have that title.

During the offseason, the Lakers made a head coaching change that they hoped would help James and Anthony Davis contend for the title. The team hired former NBA player JJ Redick to become the 29th head coach of the franchise. They believe that Redick is the key for the organization to contend for a title.

Buss expects LeBron James to continue delivering

LeBron James is 39 and will turn 40 in December. Buss acknowledges that the star forward continues to work hard. According to her, James always delivers, and won’t be surprised if he does that again for the Lakers this season.

The 2024-25 NBA season will be his 22nd and he’s still helping the Lakers to become contenders for the Larry O’Brien trophy.

“Nobody can complain about the work if you see somebody with his résumé and his longevity of career, nobody can complain about having to practice if he’s willing to do it. And he does. He just amazes me. I don’t know what else to say,” Buss said.

Even at an age where James should show signs of slowing down, he’s still a valuable asset in the Lakers’ quest to compete for a title.
