The Dallas Cowboys got back in the win column in Week 4 after defeating the New York Giants in the Thursday night slate. They’re now 2-2 on the season and aim to get back on top of the NFC East division.
It was a fun game throughout, as the Giants kept it close with the Cowboys. But CeeDee Lamb proved to be the difference-maker, recording seven receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Although the Cowboys have already played their Week 4 game, the NFL is delivering fines to players across the league for plays in Week 3. The 25-year-old star receiver was slapped with a $22,511 fine for an unnecessary roughness call in the game against the Baltimore Ravens, per Tom Pelissero of The NFL Network.
On the play, the league claims Lamb lowered his head and delivered a blow to the chest of Ravens’ safety Kyle Hamilton. Lamb’s helmet does appear to hit Hamilton squarely in the chest on the play.
The league has cracked down on plays that are potentially dangerous. Anything involving the head is likely to draw a penalty these days as it can lead to a concussion, or worse. So, luckily Lamb or Hamilton didn’t suffer any injuries from that play in Week 3.
With that said, this fine likely won’t be much of a bother for the Cowboys’ star. Right before the start of the regular season, Lamb signed a four-year $136 million contract extension to remain in Dallas.
Lamb has been a monster to begin this season. Although there was a sideline tiff between him and quarterback Dak Prescott, the superstar wide receiver has remained the top pass option for the Cowboys.
Through four games this season, Lamb has already recorded 20 receptions, 316 yards, and two touchdowns. He’s currently on pace to finish the season with 85 receptions, 1,343 yards, and nine touchdowns.
Dallas has themselves a mini bye week after playing on Thursday night against the Giants. We’ll see the Cowboys back in action on Week 5 as they face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a ‘Sunday Night Football’ matchup.
