Cavinder began her college career at Fresno State, where she made an immediate impact. During her freshman year, she set a single-game record with 31 points and was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year. Over the next two years, she continued to shine, earning the title of Mountain West Player of the Year in her sophomore season and setting a Division I record for free throw percentage.

In 2022, Cavinder transferred to the University of Miami, where she helped the team reach the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament. Known for her strong performances, she averaged 12.2 points per game during her time at Miami. Beyond basketball, and her sister gained fame on social media, amassing millions of followers on TikTok.
