Compared to last week’s defeat, the Dallas Cowboys found themselves in better spirits after beating their division rival, the New York Giants, 20-15 on “Thursday Night Football.” One player in particular was in a better mood, that being Cowboys star receiver CeeDee Lamb.
In their Week 2 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, quarterback Dak Prescott and Lamb were seen arguing on the sideline after a poor offensive series. Lamb was visibly frustrated and received a lot of criticism during and after the game.
Lamb finished with four receptions for 67 receiving yards and a fumble in the loss.
On Sep. 24 after practice, Lamb broke his silence and addressed what had happened in Week 2. “I know that’s not the player I am. I know that’s not the teammate I am…It was a bad game on my end. I fully take accountability in that,” Lamb said.
Lamb kept his promise and was “better” in last night’s win.
Prescott and Lamb were back on track. Lamb brought in seven of his eight targets for 98 receiving yards and 55-yard touchdown.
Following the win, Lamb was making his way back into the tunnel until he heard the cheers from a young fan. The fan was asking for Lamb’s gloves which he didn’t have at the moment. Instead, the star receiver took off his cleats and jumped up to the young fan to deliver them personally.
This was a “back on track” win for the Cowboys. The Boys’ defense didn’t get marched on by the opponents’ run game (allowed 26 rushing yards and 277 passing yards) and were able to get an interception and a sack. The offense was effective and didn’t just rely on the leg of Brandon Aubrey, running back Rico Dowdle showed he should be the main back (46 rushing yards, 15 receiving yards and a TD) and the Prescott-Lamb connection was back in action.
The Cowboys have a mini-bye week (10 days) till their next game, which will give them time to recover from the injuries of “TNF.” Lamb and the Boys will be back in action on Oct. 6 for “Sunday Night Football” against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
