The Golden State Warriors are arguably coming off of their biggest offseason in more than a decade. While the addition and departure of Kevin Durant were key events as well, they aren’t of the same magnitude as Klay Thompson leaving this offseason after 13 years in the Bay Area.
Thompson was a fan favorite and was a part of the Warriors DNA that led the team to six NBA finals and four championships. While Steph Curry was unquestionably the leader, Draymond Green and Thompson were his perfect running mates. With the Splash Bros now separated, Golden State’s top brass will have to answer a lot of questions from fans and media alike.
The first step to answering these questions and planning for the 2024-25 season begins with the team’s media day.
When is the Golden State Warriors media day for 2024-25 NBA Season?
The Golden State Warriors are set to host their 2024-25 NBA season’s media day on Monday, Sept. 30, as per NBA.com. The event is scheduled for noon EDT and will take place at Chase Center in San Francisco.
While the schedule for all the 30 teams are out, streaming details for most teams’ events are not yet available, including Golden State’s. If the Warriors maintain last year’s streaming schedule, viewers should be able to access the full press conference on the team’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
Probable key talking points during Golden State Warriors media day
The Golden State Warriors were the epitome of the perfect franchise for almost the past decade. Players always praised the management and the camaraderie that was exuded by players. However, that has allegedly changed in the past few seasons, with Klay Thompson mentioning in his Dallas Mavericks introductory presser that he lost the joy of playing in his final season at Golden State.
Steph Curry has reiterated on numerous occasions that he intends to close out his career with the Warriors. However, he also said that he wants to stay competitive. Thus, with so much at stake, what could be the major talking points when general manager Mike Dunleavy and coach Steve Kerr take to the podium Monday? Here are our guesses.
- Departure of Klay Thompson
- Steph Curry’s one-year extension
- Golden State’s supporting cast
- Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody’s roles
- Is Brandin Podziemski the perfect running mate for Curry?
- Are the additions of Buddy Hield, Kyle Anderson and De’Anthony Melton enough?
While other topics will be discussed as well, fans can expect the majority of the questions to be around the aforementioned talking points.
