Both the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins are looking for a much-needed win as they head into their Monday night matchup in Week 4. The Titans are still searching for their first win of the season, while the Dolphins are hoping to bounce back from two consecutive losses.
The Titans have had the upper hand in recent matchups, outscoring the Dolphins 62-30 in their last two meetings. Notably, Tennessee pulled off a 28-27 comeback victory over Miami on Monday Night Football last season, erasing a 14-point deficit in the final minutes.
Two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons played a key role in that victory, contributing to the Titans’ five sacks of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Simmons believes the battle in the trenches will be crucial once again, highlighting the matchup between himself, teammate T’Vondre Sweat, and Dolphins center Aaron Brewer, a former teammate of Simmons.
Simmons expressed confidence in their ability to exploit Brewer’s tendencies, noting his familiarity with Brewer’s playing style from their time together. He specifically pointed out Brewer’s quickness in lateral movements and his suitability for the Dolphins’ run-first offense.
The Titans’ defense has been a bright spot this season, racking up seven sacks through three games. However, the Dolphins’ offensive line has been relatively solid, with Pro Football Focus crediting them with allowing just five sacks through three weeks.
Brewer, in his first season with Miami after signing a three-year deal, has yet to allow a sack and has surrendered only three quarterback pressures. His ability to protect Tagovailoa and open holes for the running game will be crucial against a Titans defense currently giving up 124 rushing yards per game.
With both teams eager to turn their seasons around, the Monday night clash promises to be a hard-fought battle with significant playoff implications.
