Travis Kelce brushes off Taylor Swift aspect for 'not' playing best, says 'it’s football, baby!'

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS: Travis Kelce has reflected on his early season struggles amid criticism that Taylor Swift was responsible.

He brushed off Taylor Swift’s aspect affecting his game by telling his brother Jason Kelce on New Heights Podcast: “It’s football, baby!”

Travis Kelce addresses early struggle with football season

The NFL star discussed his sluggish beginning with the Kansas City Chiefs, following the viral video showing him looking dejected on the sidelines on Sunday during a game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Through the first three games of the season, Kelce has put up some of the lowest numbers of his illustrious career with criticism online that his relationship with Swift has “put his mind off the game.”

Nonetheless, there is a debate that Travis hasn’t experienced as successful a season as in previous years.

“We’re finding ways to win games, but we’re not playing our best football,” Kelce, said on Wednesday’s episode.

“Everybody can clean it up. I think everyone saw my drop in the fourth quarter with that crucial third down,” he added, according to the New York Post.

Travis Kelce says he’s not getting caught up in  targets but to have a successful offense

Through three games – all wins by the Chiefs – Travis Kelce has eight catches for 69 yards and no TDs. His 8.6 yards-per-reception average is two full yards lower than his career-worst, which came last year at 10.6, as per Toronto Sun.

Kelce says he’s not worried about his status, stating that the Chiefs are fine-tuning their gameplay “in the right direction” as they gear up to face the Los Angeles Chargers this coming Sunday.

“Whatever it is, it’s football baby! Come on now, I’m not getting caught up in getting the targets and all that,” Travis said replying to Jason who said opposing team defenses were “working hard at taking [Travis] out of the picture.”

“I just wanna have a successful offense, and I think Pat’s doing a great job of finding the open guy and making the right decisions right now,” he added.

Travis Kelce acknowledges Chiefs can go through ‘ups and downs’

Travis Kelce acknowledged that Chiefs can go through ‘ups and downs’ throughout the season but suggested making sure it’s being communicated.

“As an offence, you’re going to go through these ups and downs throughout the season and you just want to make sure that you clean up all the mistakes, you’re making sure that you’re communicating so that everybody understands exactly where we’re going moving forward,” Kelce said.

“Nobody does it better than coach Andy Reid and Pat Mahomes in that regard,” he added.
