LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, and Jimmy Butler were all smiles when they arrived for the red carpet of their upcoming Netflix docuseries, ‘Starting Five’. They were joined by the other two stars of the docu — Anthony Edwards and Domantas Sabonis. The five NBA superstars will feature in the series that chronicles their 2023-24 NBA campaign.

James and Tatum were all smiles as they faced the cameras during the event. The 4x NBA champion wore a denim jacket, while Sabonis looked dapper in a suit. Butler went all-black for his outfit, while Tatum had a blazer on. Edwards kept casual with a hoodie.

Barring Sabonis and the Sacramento Kings, the remaining four players and their teams made the playoffs. LeBron James and the Lakers faced off against the Denver Nuggets but were sent packing in round 1. Butler vs Tatum was a matchup that saw the Celtics coast to the NBA Finals and eventually win the title. Edwards and the T-Wolves were beaten by the Dallas Mavericks.

Everything you need to know about Netflix’s ‘Starting 5’ ft LeBron James

The NBA docuseries is in the same mold as Netflix’s NFL series, ‘Quarterback’ and ‘Receiver’ which opened to critical acclaim. LeBron James and the four other superstars now star in a series produced by the Lakers’ star’s production company, Uninterrupted. ‘Starting 5’ debuts on Oct. 9.

Former president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama are also listed among the executive producers, with their Higher Ground serving as one of the production houses. Peyton Manning through his Omaha Productions joins the personnel as well. Here’s a quick look at the official synopsis:

“The series captures all five athletes in their battles on and off the court as they chase greatness, push through injuries, and balance the demands of family and legacy. James exerts himself harder than ever to stay healthy — and dominant — in his 21st season, while Edwards electrifies with his rapid rise. Butler’s relentless drive propels the Heat, Sabonis anchors the Kings with his versatile play, and Tatum leads the Celtics in their quest for a record 18th championship. Starting 5 delivers an unfiltered view of life at the pinnacle of professional basketball.”

This season, all five players are part of teams that are legitimate title contenders. LeBron James comes off a successful Paris Olympics campaign alongside Edwards and Tatum, and now all five stars are gearing up for another intense NBA campaign starting in October.
