BREAKING: A Dallas Cowboy Player is Instantly Expendable.

Imagine the Dallas Cowboys as a soap opera, with each player’s move adding a new twist to the plot. When you think you know what will happen, the team signs a veteran player, making another player expendable.

It’s the unpredictability that keeps us hooked.

Do you remember staying home from school as a kid? If you do, you know that soap operas were the only thing on television.

Now, think about what those soap operas were about. Twists and turns in the plot were a key component, and you would watch the drama unfold before your eyes.

Sounds familiar.

Now, think about the Dallas Cowboys. It seems like there is new drama with the team every day. Could the latest drama involve a young player being put on the trade block?

What player could it be?

Dallas Cowboys fans are pretty good at knowing the NFL’s landscape. Every team in the league is a quarterback injury away from needing help.

Several teams have backup quarterbacks who are not trusted enough to take the offense’s reins. The Miami Dolphins are one team that feels the pain of having a quarterback whose future is in jeopardy.

The Dolphins just lost Tua Tagovailoa to another concussion. The amount of concussions this player has had is becoming concerning.

It just so happens that the Cowboys have three quarterbacks on their roster. One of the quarterbacks is untouchable, and the other two could be had at the right price.

Cooper Rush and Trey Lance both have starting experience. Cooper Rush’s starts came after Dak Prescott’s injuries, while Trey Lance started for the San Francisco 49ers.

Trey Lance has the potential and youth to be a starting quarterback in the league.

Cooper Rush is too valuable as a backup to be traded at this point in his career with the Dallas Cowboys, which leaves Trey Lance as the odd man out.

Why Trey Lance?

Many fans saw Trey Lance as the Dallas Cowboys quarterback of the future. However, the Dak Prescott extension has derailed this train of thought.

As everyone knows, Dak Prescott signed a mega-deal to become the highest player in the NFL.

Trey Lance is a young quarterback who will have his youth wasted on this roster. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins could use a bridge quarterback if Tua Tagovailoa does not return.

Trey Lance would give the Dolphins a quarterback with more arm strength and mobility. The knock on Trey Lance is decision-making, but could the coach of the Dolphins get the most out of Lance?

The Dolphins have gotten much more out of Tua than expected, and the same could be said about Trey Lance if the trade were to happen.

The Dallas Cowboys do not need a third quarterback, especially one who could get a draft pick to fill other holes next year.

What would a Trey Lance trade cost?

Trey Lance cost the Dallas Cowboys a fourth-round draft pick in last year’s draft. Could the Cowboys get a fourth-round pick and break even?

Absolutely not. The preseason did not do the Cowboys any favors in raising Trey Lance’s stock. He had a few below-average games, which left much to be desired.

Looking around the league at the free-agent quarterbacks available could help trade off Trey Lance. The best available free agent is Ryan Tannehill, and this does not seem to be the move to make.

The Dallas Cowboys could offer Trey Lance for a fifth or sixth-round pick. It’s not exactly what the Cowboys front office wants to get back, but at least it’s something.

Can Jerry Jones let go of his pet cat?

Cowboys fans know Jerry Jones does not like to be proved wrong. Letting Trey Lance go for a fifth or sixth-round pick would be a loss in Jerry’s mind.

As much as Jerry loves the Dallas Cowboys soap opera to be in the media, can his ego handle being very wrong on the Lance trade?

He would still have an ego, but it would take a little hit. However, with his franchise quarterback signed to a long-term deal, there is no need to develop Trey Lance any further.

Trey Lance could move on and see if he has what it takes to lead a team for the second time. It’s not a bad idea to trade him off while the need for a quarterback is present for another team.

Will this be something the Dallas Cowboys pull off? Probably not, but the idea of being able to unload an unneeded player seems like the way to go.

Fans of the Dallas Cowboys will have to continue watching the soap opera known as the Dallas Cowboys. Keeping Trey Lance will always give the Dak Prescott haters a leg to stand on to create more drama within the fan ranks.

This drama keeps the Cowboys relevant in the media and leaves the Cowboys with a player they do not need.
