Patrick Mahomes Becomes the First Player in NFL History to Achieve Rare Milestone

Although the game was a little bit closer than they would’ve liked, the Kansas City Chiefs went into Mercedes-Benz Stadium on “Sunday Night Football” and left with a 22-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

It wasn’t the best performance for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who completed 26 of 39 passes for 217 yards, two touchdowns and an interception with an 87.2 passer rating, but it was effective.

Mahomes led the Chiefs to 16 unanswered points from the end of the second quarter into the fourth, helping the Chiefs preserve their third win of the season and keep their perfect record intact.

In the process, Mahomes also made a bit of NHL history, passing former New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and Dallas Cowboys great Roger Staubach for the most wins by a QB through their first 100 starts. He’s the only QB with 77 or more wins in his first 100 games in NFL history.

Both Hall of Famers had 76-24 records through their first 100 starts, while Mahomes is 77-22 through his first 99. He’ll make his 100th start next week on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Mahomes has more passing yards (29,083), touchdowns (224) and Pro Bowls (six) than either Brady or Staubach did through the same point in their careers, and he has the same number of NFL MVPs (two) and Super Bowl Championships (three) as Brady did after his first 100 starts.
