All is well with the Kansas City Chiefs as the team is off to a 1-0 start in their pursuit to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
Unfortunately, not everything is going well as quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ mother recently shared some tough family news ahead of the team’s Week 2 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Randi Mahomes shared on X that her father Randy, Patrick’s grandfather, is in the hospital and not doing well as she asked for prayers and well wishes.
The 3-time Super Bowl MVP’s mom hosted a family reunion earlier this year with all of her kids and grandchildren while enjoying time with her father as well.
Mahomes’ maternal grandmother passed away in April of 2023 at the age of 72.
While Patrick dominates on the field, his mother, Randi, is the one responsible for keeping the family together and according to Instagram, is constantly organizing family get-togethers while also going to Patrick’s games and collectively rooting on his Chiefs.
Family is important to Patrick and the people around him, and Randi shared in a podcast appearance this summer that Patrick would give up football if he felt it was taking him away from his kids too much, pointing out that he doesn’t necessarily feel obligated to play as long as Tom Brady did.
It’s always upsetting to hear news like this, but hopefully Chiefs fans can rally together and support the Mahomes family like it always has and will grandpa Mahomes back to health.
