Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has nothing but respect for his Kansas City Chiefs counterpart, Patrick Mahomes.
Burrow made that abundantly clear on Friday while speaking to reporters about their Week 2 showdown with the Chiefs on Sunday. The Bengals signal-caller went so far to say that there’s no one like Mahomes in the NFL.
“Pat is, you know, one of one,” Burrow said, via ClutchPoints. “He’s really, really exceptional. … He really understands the game. It’s always a big challenge going up against him.”
To be fair, Burrow has every reason to say that Mahomes is a different breed. After all, he’s a three-time Super Bowl winner and two-time NFL MVP, and that’s just in a span of seven seasons. Now in his eighth year in the league, Mahomes has a chance to add more to his accolades.
“[He’s] one of one. He’s really, really exceptional… He really understands the game. It’s always a big challenge going up against him.”
Joe Burrow on Patrick Mahomes ahead of the Bengals-Chiefs matchup on Sunday
It’s definitely interesting to hear Joe Burrow heap praise on Patrick Mahomes. The Bengals star is actually one of the few QBs who has a solid track record against the Chiefs leader.
In their four head-to-head career matchups so far (including playoffs), Burrow is 3-1 against Mahomes. Joe Cool is also the last quarterback to beat the Chiefs superstar in the postseason.
Mahomes will definitely look to improve his record against Burrow when they meet on Sunday. Burrow, for his part, is expected to come in ready for the challenge, since he knows very well the threat that Mahomes brings.
