Tom Brady Gets Honest About Patrick Mahomes Amid Chiefs QB’s Slow Start

The legendary quarterback still has plenty of faith in Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Even though Patrick Mahomes hasn’t quite been his otherworldly self early in this NFL this season, Tom Brady still has plenty of faith in the three-time Super Bowl winner.

Mahomes has 442 total passing yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions so far this season, but the Chiefs have been able to weather the uneven performances and jump out to a 2-0 start.

Brady ranked the Chiefs as the league’s No. 1 team in power rankings shared on Sept. 19, calling out Mahomes for the shaky start. But Brady, himself a seven-time Super Bowl winner who just started a job as a Fox analyst, said it doesn’t matter as long as the Chiefs keep winning.

“Patrick [Mahomes] only threw for 151 yards,” Brady said. “But until you beat the champs, they’re still gonna be ranked No. 1 in my book.”

Mahomes is well aware of his early struggles, saying after his two-interception game against the Cincinnati Bengals that he needs to clean up his play.

“I’m glad we played not as clean as we want to and still found a way to win, that speaks to the defense and the full entire team, but obviously we’ve got to clean up a lot of stuff on offense as we go forward,” Mahomes said, via SI.com.
