From one LA superstar to another, LeBron James was amazed by Shohei Ohtani’s historic night on Thursday. Ohtani became the first player in baseball history to have a 50-50 season. He also had one of the greatest performances in a single game after going 6-for-6 against the Miami Marlins.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, James shared one of Ohtani’s home runs on Thursday. The LA Dodgers superstar went 6-for-6 with three home runs, two stolen bases and 10 runs batted in. He also broke the Dodgers franchise record for most home runs in a season with 51 and counting.
“THIS GUY IS UNREAL!!!! WOWZERS 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾” James tweeted.
There’s no denying that LeBron James is not just the only sports superstar in Los Angeles. Shohei Ohtani has the LA Dodgers back in the playoffs and looking great to win their first World Series since 2020. It will also be Ohtani’s first taste of the postseason after languishing for a few years with the LA Angels.
Ohtani is also a pitcher who is rehabbing from elbow surgery last year and is probably doing a side quest. He’s the favorite to win his third MVP award and first in the National League.
With nine games left in the season, the Japanese superstar could pile on his home run and stolen bases totals. Nevertheless, he’s done something that has never done before since he’s the first member of the 50-50 club in MLB history.
Just like Ohtani, James has been breaking records in Los Angeles since arriving in 2018. “The King” became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer after passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar last year. He also became the first member of the 40,000-point club last season.
Did you know LeBron James owns an MLB team?
LeBron James was a baseball fan growing up in Akron, Ohio but didn’t root for the Cleveland Guardians, called the Indians back then. James grew up supporting the New York Yankees and was even present in some games when he was younger.
He has since embraced the Guardians when he returned to Cleveland in 2014 and brought a championship to the city in 2016. He also supported the LA Dodgers once he joined the LA Lakers in 2018. However, his allegiance might have changed when he became one of the owners of the Boston Red Sox.
According to the Boston Globe, James became part of the Red Sox ownership in 2021 after joining the Fenway Sports Group. And through this partnership with FSG, the four-time NBA champion could become an NBA owner in the future.
