The NFL has fined New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr over a touchdown celebration that the league deemed as crossing the line.

During New Orleans’ 44-19 blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, Derek Carr mimicked Michael Jackson’s crotch grab move after scoring on a QB sneak late in the second quarter:

Per Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the league has fined Carr $14,000 for the crotch grab touchdown celebration. The 33-year-old signal-caller was not penalized during the game for the celly.

Derek Carr had a field day for the Saints, completing 11 of 16 pass attempts for 243 yards, two touchdowns, one interception and a rushing score. The 25-point victory came one week after the Saints crushed the Carolina Panthers 47-10 in their season opener at the Caesars Superdome.

Over his first two games, the former Las Vegas Raider has a 76.9 completion percentage, 443 passing yards, five touchdowns and one interception. The Saints are one of nine undefeated teams entering Week 3.

New Orleans signed Carr to a four-year deal worth $150 million in 2023 free agency following his release from the Las Vegas Raiders. Carr had a frustrating first year in New Orleans, throwing for 3,878 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

The Saints finished 9-8 and missed out on the NFC South division crown via tiebreaker to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That prompted head coach Dennis Allen to fire longtime offense coordinator Pete Carmichael and replace him with Klint Kubiak, who’s already playing his way toward an NFL head coaching position.

Derek Carr & Saints Host The Eagles In Week 3

The Saints will try and make it 3-0 on the season when they host Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Philly is coming off a stunning home loss to Kirk Cousins’ Atlanta Falcons on “Monday Night Football”, so it’ll be interesting to see how Nick Sirianni’s group responds against a surprising New Orleans team.
