John Lennon's son Sean reveals Taylor Swift song that made him 'uncomfortable', says 'never been a fan'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sean Ono Lennon, the son of the late Beatles legend John Lennon, has shared his thoughts on Taylor Swift and a contentious political endorsement involving Donald Trump.

Lennon’s comments come amid a heated exchange between Swift and former President Donald Trump, who expressed strong disapproval of Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming election, as reported by The Daily Mail.

On September 15, Lennon took to X (formerly Twitter) to address Trump’s derogatory remarks about Swift, stating, “Hating on Taylor Swift is not a good look.” He emphasized that while he isn’t a fan of Swift’s music, he respects her unique success and contributions.

“I have never been a fan of her music,” Lennon admitted, “I can’t think of a single song so I don’t really know if I like it or not,” Lennon shared his thoughts on Swift’s music.

“But I know she is a uniquely successful American. A young woman who has done things in a way that no one has done before her.”

Lennon criticized Trump’s harsh approach, suggesting a more respectful critique would have been more appropriate.

Lennon later added in his post, “A more ‘presidential’ or gracious criticism might have been something like ‘She is a brilliant young woman. I have a lot of respect for what she has accomplished. I don’t believe she knows the reality of the party she is endorsing. I hope her fans are able to make up their own minds and understand the big difference between a talent in music and an understanding of politics or economics.”

The following day, Lennon clarified his comments and shared his personal reaction to Swift’s music. He revealed that the lyric from Swift’s 2014 hit “Bad Blood” made him “uncomfortable.” Specifically, he mentioned the rhyme of “mad love” with “bad blood,” which he found unsettling.

“I can’t believe I forgot this one but I actually remember a Taylor song called bad blood (or something). I remember she rhymed mad love with bad blood and that kind of made me uncomfortable,” he wrote.

“This is only to say that it was not true I don’t know any songs. I know that one. I have nothing against her. I have a lot of respect for what she has accomplished. I certainly could never do what she does.”

Sean Ono Lennon’s comments on Taylor Swift’s lyric spark debate online

Sean Ono Lennon’s mild critique of Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ lyric has ignited a wave of reactions across social media. Users shared varied perspectives, with some downplaying the significance of his comment and others offering their own takes on Swift’s music.

One wrote, “I don’t hate her. I just can’t take her seriously. Some of her stuff is catchy but I don’t think I can take more than 20 minutes of it.”

Several users aligned themselves with Lennon’s mixed feelings toward Swift, with one writing, “You could never do it because you are an actual musician/songwriter, and not a record company creation.”

Another added, “I respect her success, as well. But, I just don’t get it.”

“She also rhymed ooooh-uh-oooowa with Cruel Summer,” a user said.

On the other hand, fans of Lennon chimed in with support, with one declaring, “Your song ‘Wait for Me’ is better than her entire catalog, so there’s that.”
