Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has kept his political views to himself, but his wife Brittany, has been vocal about her support for Donald Trump.
The Chiefs QB made a statement earlier this year about his outlook toward politics with he upcoming election.
“I think I’ve always said that I don’t want my place or platform to be used to endorse a candidate either way,” Mahomes said when asked about his political beliefs.
“My place is to inform people to get registered to vote and inform people to do their own research and make the best decision for their own family.”
But the wife of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback liked some social media posts highlighting Donald Trump’s plans. While reports now suggest that Brittany Mahomes could be questioning her support, the wife of the three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback continues to trend for it.
Recently, Brittany backtracked a bit on her support for Trump due to his harsh comments aimed at her friend, Taylor Swift, Swift is dating Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce and publicly endorsed Kamala Harris following the debate two weeks ago.
There were rumors that the two good friends were in a disagreement due to political views because they didn’t sit together in the Week 1 game, but they quickly cleared them up by sitting together in the Chiefs’ second game of the season.
“The View” Hosts Attack Wife Of Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes For Supporting “Racist” President
Brittany Mahomes is clearly Caucasian and married to Patrick, who is mixed race.
Unsurprisingly, hosts on “The View” have taken issue with Brittany Mahomes’ support of Donald Trump. But this week, one host decided to call out Brittany Mahomes’ interracial marriage. Brittany is white and her husband, Patrick Mahomes, is biracial with a Black dad and white mom.
Sunny Hostin called out the wife of the Kansas City Chiefs QB, attacking her biracial marriage.
“It just seems to me that since she is in an interracial marriage, she should have known that to support a racist is problematic. Her children are biracial and her family is one of the families that in the ’70s could not have lived in any of Donald Trump’s buildings,” Hostin said.
Whoopi Goldberg, another host of “The View,” sounded off on Brittany Mahomes, too.
“(Trump is) politically activating her army of Swifties, and there are also rumors that her best friend Brittany Mahomes who was hit with backlash for liking a pro-MAGA post is rethinking her alleged support,” Goldberg said, via The Daily Mail.
“Some could say, because he’s mad at your best friend, now you’re mad? It didn’t bother you that he was being a racist and being a misogynist and… that didn’t get you going?”
Despite all of the off-the-field drama, the Kansas City Chiefs look like one of the best teams in the NFL yet again, cruising to a 2-0 start to kick off the new NFL season.
Politics have intersected with the Chiefs on multiple occasions, with Swift’s relationship with Kelce and her support for Harris, to kicker Harrison Butker’s controversial graduation speech and his open support of conservative viewpoints since facing backlash since the speech.
Now, Brittany Mahomes is the focal point for her outspoken views — and because she’s married to the Kansas City Chiefs QB — her opinions have been thrown into the national spotlight.
Ultimately every citizen, whether they are in the public eye or not, is free to voice their political beliefs.
