At the beginning of the regular season, the Philadelphia Eagles defense struggled to do the simple.
Tackling, pass coverage, run defense, it all seemed to be a massive struggle for the Eagles and new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. The group was among the league’s worst in most categories as well.
After the bye week, things have drastically changed for the defense, and it all came ahead in their blowout win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Philadelphia held an offense with Joe Burrow and JaMarr Chase to just 17 points and under 300 yards of offense in the team’s 37-17 win – the first for the Eagles in Cincinnati in franchise history.
“Win, dominate, execute,” linebacker Nakobe Dean said after the win to John McMullen. “I don’t really know how to feel … To us, it’s the same thing every week. We’re going to come in, we’re going to dominate. We know we’re playing a real good quarterback, with a real good offense, probably one of the best we’ll face. We had a plan, we stuck to the plan, like we do every week.”

Since the bye week, the Eagles defense is first in the NFL in points allowed, first in yards allowed, and first in success rate across the league.
With Fangio’s unit fully healthy and playing together, the sky seems the limit for the entire group moving forward.
