The Green Bay Packers decided to make a kicking change before the Houston Texans game this weekend. They released Brayden Narveson from the team and signed Brandon McManus. The fanbase reacted negatively to the move because of his past off-the-field issues with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
On Sunday, McManus made the game-winning 45-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Packers to a 24-22 win over the Texans. Brandon McManus was successful last season as a field goal kicker with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Green Bay Packers Kicker Brandon McManus Speaks To the Media After the Game
There is no doubt that McManus is the star of the hour for the Packers special teams unit. The kicking game was a ,major question entering the 2024 season and it is possible that they may have finally figured that out. After the game, McManus spoke to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. The former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker loves thriving in pressure situations.
He said to Schneidman:
“You’ve got to go into each game understanding it might come down to you. That’s why I chose this position many moons ago. I love the pressure situations.”

This will not be the last time this season that Brandon McManus will probably be asked to kick a game-winning field goal or have another big kick in a football game. McManus has a chance to make Packers fans happy if he continues to kick well for them.
McManus Talks About Early Career Struggles
To go along with talking about the game-winning field goal on Sunday afternoon, McManus also opened up about his struggles early in his NFL career. He told Matt Schneidman:
“I struggled in the beginning of my career. I was cut three times and traded. It’s the nature of this position. I don’t wish anyone to go through it, but sometimes it does take going through that, missing a couple of kicks, understanding the winds, understanding situations … Every single game winner, every single field goal, I’m excited to kick and continue to score more points in this league. Grew up watching the games since I was 3 years old going to games. It’s still a dream of mine to be playing in this league. What a way to help this team win in my first game here at Lambeau Field.”
Next week, Brandon McManus will look to make some big kicks for the Packers against his former team, the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars are just 2-5 this season and this is a potential trap game for the Packers after improving to 5-2 on the season.
