Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley showed the New York Giants what they lost with a spectacular performance on Sunday.
Playing against his former team for the first time since he signed a one-year deal over the summer with the Eagles, Barkley lit up the Giants’ defense for 176 rushing yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Barkley teamed up with quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver AJ Brown in a relentless offensive attack against their division rivals.
After the game, Brown said he was glad to see Barkley put together such an incredible performance.
“Extremely happy,” Brown said about Barkley after the Eagles’ 28-3 road win over New York, per Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia.
“He held it in all week. He tried his best. If he said otherwise, he lying. I’m excited for him, I’m happy for him. And he deserves it.”
Barkley and the Eagles barely had a problem dealing with the Giants. After a scoreless first quarter, Philadelphia took control of the game, as the team outscored New York in the second quarter, 14-3. The second half was all Philly, with the Eagles holding the Giants scoreless the rest of the way while putting up seven points in each of the final two quarters.
With their Week 7 victory, the Eagles have finally won back-to-back games. They will look to extend their win streak to three games in Week 8 when they visit the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium.
