The Miami Dolphins have reportedly agreed to a deal with one-time Pro Bowl quarterback Tyler Huntley. The move comes amid uncertainty surrounding their starter Tua Tagovailoa, who is currently in the concussion protocol.

Huntley was plucked off from the Baltimore Ravens practice squad and joined a QB room that also has third-year signal-caller Skylar Thompson and veteran Tim Boyle.

Huntley, an undrafted free agent in 2020, spent the majority of his career with the Ravens. He played a total of 20 games, including nine starts, with the franchise and has a 3-6 record. Huntley completed 64.6% of his career passes and threw for 1,957 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven picks.

It is unclear whether Huntley is just insurance for the Dolphins or if the franchise anticipates Tagovailoa will miss an extended time. According to head coach Mike McDonald, the decision on whether to place Tagovailoa on the Injured List is yet to be made.

Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in Thursday night’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. It was his third concussion in three years, leading many former players and football analysts to call for him to retire. However, multiple reports indicated that Tagovailoa intends to keep on playing.

The Dolphins, who are 1-1 to start the season, will face Seattle Seahawks in Week, with Thompson being expected to start the game under center.
