Saquon Barkley may have played to aggressively for the NFL’s watchful eye

The NFL just hit Saquon Barkley where it hurts.

It doesn’t matter where this road leads. It doesn’t matter how the Philadelphia Eagles’ season turns out. We doubt Saquon Barkley will ever forget his first season in the City of Brotherly Love.

It began in Brazil. He was brilliant in that one, producing as phenomenal a debut as eyes have ever witnessed. Then came his first game at Lincoln Financial Field. He played well but dropped that final pass. Honestly, it was hard to be angry with him under the circumstances.

He was again a hero in Week 3. Week 4 didn’t go according to plan. He finally earned a true home win in Week 6. Philly outlasted the Cleveland Browns. Saquon again gave his best effort, but it appears league offices have hit him where it hurts.

The NFL fines Eagles star Saquon Barkley.

Saquon Barkley has run for 482 yards and four touchdowns on 91 carries this season. He has also notched 92 yards and a TD on 14 receptions.

Those stats include an eight-yard carry with just under five minutes to go during the first quarter of Philly’s most recent game.

Check this one out, and let us know if you see anything wrong here.

Okay, we understand the need for player safety, but come on. Are you kidding? A $45,020 fine? Well, look at the bright side. That’s better than finding one of those ‘random’ drug tests in his locker.

What’s that? You don’t see the humor there. Well, maybe you’re right. We apologize, sort of. We’re just trying to find silver linings in dark clouds that we don’t believe should be following us. Maybe we’re laughing to keep from crying. It isn’t our money, but the punishment doesn’t seem to fit the crime.

Somewhere, Buddy Ryan is turning in his grave. We truly have no words here. You won’t be allowed to tackle in the NFL before too long! Let’s just hope this fires him up for another massive performance.
