The Dallas Cowboys will not play football this week as they head into their bye. But that has not helped stop discussions about the appalling game they had against the Detroit Lions last week.
With discussions still ripe about the performances of the likes of Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and others, team legend Troy Aikman was pulled into one such conversation.
While on 96.7 The Ticket, Aikman was talking about the mess the Cowboys are in. When specifically asked if the lack of pre-season practices led to some missed connections between Lamb and Prescott, Aikman didn’t hold punches.
Troy Aikman summed up his analogy, mentioning that CeeDee Lamb and his receiver teammates need to play much better than what they have so far. Else Dak Prescott will continue to struggle to make something out of it.

But so far, the quarterback has not spoken up about it. Instead, it has been the second highest-paid receiver who has been vocal so far. First, he vented his frustrations after he dropped a crucial catch during the Week 3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
In Week 5’s win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he again was seen mouthing something to Prescott. But with the Hall of Famer’s analysis of what is wrong, his fingers are pointing at CeeDee Lamb. Aikman feels unless the wideout and his receiving core improve, the Cowboys won’t be better.
Troy Aikman feels Jerry Jones is paying for his mistakes
During the same conversation, the hosts asked Aikman about his opinion on Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones losing his composure.
The former QB was clear that Jerry Jones’ decision to sign Lamb and Prescott that late was a major mistake. It showed that he was ready to sign both, then waited for so long and both players missed practices.
He even talked about how Jones expected the younger players to take over. But that has not materialized so far. Then the lack of offseason signings is also showing their ugly side. All in all, the Super Bowl-winning QB feels Jones’ reaction to the radio show’s questions is purely a result of the frustration that he understands he made mistakes.
Mistakes that are costing the Dallas Cowboys so far this season. With 11 more games to go, Troy Aikman is not sure if the sufferings are over. As his words indicate, there are fundamental flaws in the team that can make things worse.
